Schools & Education

Wisconsin boasts some of the finest public schools in the United States, and Milwaukee enjoys its share of that educational success at the grade school and high school lev-els. In addition, the city’s rich ethnic and religious communities provide a healthy collection private grade schools and high schools.

On the collegiate level, Milwaukee is home to the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee (a satel-lite school linked to UW in Madison, WI). The city’s top private university is Marquette, a Jes-uit school west of downtown. According to the university, the college was founded in 1881 and has been “educating people of faith to be leaders in their professional lives, their communities and in society for more than 120 years. Since the first graduating class of five men were awarded bachelor of arts degrees in the 1880s, Marquette has grown into a modern coed campus of more than 11,000 students who learn and grow through nationally admired undergraduate, graduate and professional programs.”
